«BACKGROUND FACTS 8. In or around February 2015, Plaintiff met AARON through an adult webcam internet site based in the United States. Beginning or around that time, while Plaintiff was residing in this county, AARON became romantically involved with Plaintiff. At the time, Ms. Popa knew that AARON was married, but he “baited her into dating” because he asked her to be his girlfriend. On the other hand, Aaron was married with his wife LEANNA, but he never told Ms. Popa about LEANNE. During the course of the relation, Aaron “Stockholm syndromed” Ms. Popa, meaning that Aaron made Ms. Popa rely on him and used to buy Ms. Popa “things” after he abused her. AARON never hit Ms. Popa physically, but he would push Ms. Popa and “keep her” against her will. Further, AARON infected Ms. Popa with Human Papillomavirus (“HPV”), a strain that causes cancer. Unfortunately, because of the yeast infections that AARON gave to Ms. Popa, she developed a resistance to fungal medicine. Now she needs special treatment if she ever gets a yeast infection. Ms. Popa and AARON engaged in numerous romantic excursions together, traveling abroad and living in what she believed to be a committed relationship. AARON started very charming and friendly, but then he spiraled into abuse quickly. As the relationship progressed, AARON began, and progressively continued, to psychologically, physically and emotionally abuse Ms. Popa, to the point that she felt imprisoned and believed she could not escape from his torturous methods of abuse and harassment. AARON told Ms. Popa that she could not have any relationships besides the one with him. In 2016, AARON made Ms. Popa quit her job and quit school. Ms. Popa believed that she could travel with AARON and learn from him, and that she did not need the school. 9. AARON repeatedly committed acts of sexual assault and battery against Ms. Popa, including repeated wrongful, sexual touching of Ms. Popa’s body without her consent and against her will, in order to continue exercising control over Ms. Popa whom he viewed as his “property.” AARON repeatedly coerced Ms. Popa to perform in pornographic videos against her will and brainwashed her into believing that he was committed to their relationship in order to manipulate and torment her with his perverse sexual fetishes that he believed Ms. Popa was obligated to indulge to “prove her love” to him. Some acts occurred in Ms. Popa’s apartment in Irvine, also some acts occurred in L.A. hotels, including “The London West Hollywood” hotel at Beverly Hills. 10. In 2018, after getting into a heated argument with AARON, Ms. Popa suffered an accidental overdose which left her hospitalized. In or around August 2018, Ms. Popa entered into a mental hospital due to AARON’s abuse. While Ms. Popa was in the mental hospital, she found out that MICHAEL had surreptitiously recorded statements from her that he provided to AARON»
